The first thing you need to know is that the claim’s worth is dependent on the amount of coverage that is available from your policy. You might think you know your policy well, but there are potential exclusions and limits to the amount you can recover that you might not be aware of having. One of the benefits of hiring an attorney is that we will investigate and find the available coverages and potential pitfalls for you. Depending on what type of insurance policy you actually have, your claim could be valued for a lot more than you think. 

Secondly, if you have medical bills or out of pocket expenses that need to be paid quickly, there may be available coverage that could provide for these needs. Broadly speaking,  medical payments coverages on your auto policy could pay outstanding bills up to the limits of coverage, or reimburse you for amounts you have already paid.

How are you supposed to know the full extent of your coverage? Unfortunately, insurance companies have virtually NO incentive to find additional coverages in your policy and tell you about them. In fact, we find they often do just the opposite. The other individual’s insurance would argue they are not even required to tell you the truth. Instead, these companies pay their adjusters to scrape the bare minimum amounts so that they can pay out as little as possible. They are not your friends.
